In the phonology of Sanskrit and related Indo-Aryan languages, the visarga (न्, [ृ: ः]) is a phonetic phenomenon, and a specific sound symbol which is the voiceless alveolar fricative, [h], that appears at the end of a syllable or stem forms a separate syllable with the preceding sonorant.
