muskoxen Definition
Definition
Muskoxen (Ovibos moschatus) are large, thick-coated mammals native to the North American Arctic and the Arctic regions of Greenland. They are known for their shaggy fur, notably their voluminous winter coat. Muskoxen form herds and their long, curved horns are highly distinctive. They were formerly hunted extensively for their thick undercoat, which is used to make a special type of fur.
