The Kumbh Mela is a mass Hindu pilgrimage, a massive fair of spiritual significance held at a fixed interval of 12 years at four locations in India—Hardwar, Haridwar, Allahabad (Prayagraj), and Nashik—during the months of January to March or April, corresponding to the months of Magh and Chaitra in the Hindu calendar, to celebrate the mythological nectar of immortality (amrita) which fell on the earth at these locations.
