diplosphene Definition

A rare mineral, usually occurring as thick prismatic crystals, having indefinite and varying alternating cleavage planes, because of the presence of inclusions, thus causing the crystal to appear as double-sided and hence the name 'diplosphene' which means double-sleeved in ancient Greek.
