akhaia Definition

In ancient Greece, Akhaia referred to a region in the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. It was one of the six regions into which the former district of Achaea was divided. Akhaia is mentioned in various ancient texts and is known for its hero genealogy in Greek mythology, particularly the hero Diomedes.
