Taricha Definition

Taricha is a genus of toads, also known as western toads. This genus includes species such as the American toad (Taricha shars gri) and the Pacific chorus frog (not to be confused, as the latter is a different genus). These toads are characterized by their rough skin and the presence of parotoid glands which can produce a toxic secretion.
