Macbeth Definition

The name of a Scottish king, as well as the title of a tragedy by William Shakespeare. The play tells the story of Macbeth, a Scottish general and thane who becomes King of Scotland. He receives a prophecy from three witches that one day he will be king, and in his ambition, he murders King Duncan and takes the throne in a violent and immoral way.
