Follitropin Definition

A hormone produced by the pituitary gland that stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles and, in turn, induces ovulation in females. In medical applications, it is often used to stimulate egg production in women undergoing certain reproductive treatments and is sometimes referred to as follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
