Definition

A type of caviar that comes from guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus), a hybrid of guinea pigs or their crosses with other species of the genus Cavia, such as the tarabusion or capybara. Caviares is not considered true caviar, which comes from sturgeon fish eggs. Caviares are known for their distinctive taste and texture, often described as slightly sweeter and nuttier than authentic caviar.
